Decisions

This post has nothing to do with the confusion in the previous post...however, I have a choice to make. For a reasonable deal, I can upgrade from 1080i to 1080p. If you know what I am talking about...share with me your thoughts.

we need more stats than that to make a decision for you! If it's a 37" then who cares, if it's >50" then what are you waiting for? also, it better be a plasma!

Do it because you know you want to, but just for fun...I will be the angel on your shoulder instead of the devil for once. You know that you really don't need it. I know how badly you want to get out of debt, so I would suggest putting the money towards that instead. But hey, if it were me, I can't tell myself no. When I want something I will do whatever it takes to get it!

You should get out of debt!

I Agree with mark, if your not going 50+ why waste the money...Also do you hook your computer to it... Or want to... if so you wont get the visuals you seek..

According to my hubby, if the upgrade is purely for resolution then the difference is negligible on anything less than 50 inches...unless you're sitting less than 5 ft away. Of course, as mentioned by others...if the screen size is bigger too, then go for it. Otherwise, you may not even notice the difference.

My question is who benefits from your upgrade? If we hold to the traditions of the past, it should be me and Erik. If that is case, go for it! If not, save your moolah.

I think WE are in line for the pass down. HE HE. No really you should get out of debt. There is nothing worse than that hanging over your head.

Ola'! My Taco of Temptation!

I concur with the others here.
First, you should decide if this is what you want. There is always more down the road. Bigger and better is always around the corner. It's not gonna stop there.
With that being said, I agree that if debt is a concern, hold off, re-evaluate, re-budget... if the numbers work, then why not? If you need to be a bit more frugal, there is nothing wrong with that. Trust me! I learned the hard way.
However, if everything fits together and you can "treat" yourself to the finer things in life... then go for the 1030p..., but only if you are going 50 or bigger. If it's in the 30's range you won't even notice the difference. Yes, even though you have everything set up in your room, and you are close to the monitor, it won't be that big of a deal.
What you should get in the meantime is a hotdog and bun oven for your mini-theater. Nothing beats watching a movie in high-def than enjoying it with a freshing cooked hotdog and washing it down with a nice cold Yoo-Hoo!!

on the one hand, a 1080p for a reasonable deal is hard to pass up. on the other hand, i echo nathan and esther. on the third (and possibly biggest) hand, yelyah has a pretty dang good point... on the... wait, i'm all out of hands.

I'm keeping it on the down-low (don't want to brag you know) But we got a 50" 720p Panasonic Plasma

It was a great deal! I went with 720 because I figured it'd be awhile before Blu-Ray players came down in price. I'm actually excited about how good standard-def TV and DVDs looks!

Now I just need new episodes of The Office, 30 Rock, Lost, House, and 24 to fill the screen
